Significant storm system from the Rockies to the Upper Midwest during the holiday weekend

A low pressure system will gather energy over the western U.S. bringing significant impacts to the Rockies and eastward across much of the Plains this weekend. Heavy snowfall and very strong winds are forecast over the northern Plains creating blizzard conditions. Strong to severe thunderstorms possible over portions of the central and southern Plains.
