Severe weather possible across parts of central U.S.

The NWS Storm Prediction Center is forecasting a Slight Risk of severe thunderstorms, capable of producing large hail and damaging winds, Wednesday afternoon and evening from northern Kansas northeastward to southwest Minnesota. Surrounding the Slight Risk area, a Marginal Risk of severe thunderstorms extends from northern Texas to south-central Minnesota.

Synopsis: A WEAK TO MODERATE ONSHORE FLOW WILL PERSIST TODAY AS AN UPPER LEVEL WEATHER DISTURBANCE APPROACHES THE REGION. PATCHY FOG WILL BE POSSIBLE NEAR THE COAST DURING THE EARLY MORNING. ISOLATED TO SCATTERED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE POSSIBLE TODAY WITH THE PASSING OF THE UPPER DISTURBANCE. A STRONG COLD FRONT IS EXPECTED TO MOVE ACROSS THE MIDDLE TEXAS COAST FRIDAY NIGHT WITH STRONG TO POSSIBLY VERY STRONG OFFSHORE FLOW AND HAZARDOUS SEAS DEVELOPING IN ITS WAKE. THERE IS A CHANCE OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS AHEAD AND ALONG THE COLD FRONT. WINDS AND SEAS ARE EXPECTED TO DECREASE SATURDAY AFTERNOON AND BECOME ONSHORE SATURDAY NIGHT. A CHANCE OF RAIN IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE SUNDAY. RAIN CHANCES WILL DECREASE BY SUNDAY NIGHT.
