Heavy rain forecast across southern Plains, severe thunderstorms possible across parts of southern U.S. and mid-Atlantic

Moisture from the Gulf of Mexico will spread across the southern and central Plains on Thursday, resulting in moderate-to-heavy rainfall for some locations, as well as the threat of flash flooding, especially across parts of Texas. There is also a risk of severe thunderstorms from New Mexico across southern Texas and the Gulf Coast, as well as parts of the mid-Atlantic.
