Heavy rain, thunderstorms possible across Southeast

A slow-moving storm system in the Gulf of Mexico will bring shower and thunderstorms across the Southeast and Gulf Coast on Tuesday. Heavy rain is possible for some locations. A few of the thunderstorms could become severe, especially across central and southern Florida.

Synopsis: AT 09Z...OR 2 AM PDT...A 992 MB LOW PRESSURE CENTER WAS LOCATED 500 NM NORTHWEST OF SEATTLE WITH A COLD FRONT EXTENDING TO THE SOUTH AND OFF THE NORTHERN CALIFORNIA COAST. A 1025 MB HIGH PRESSURE CENTER WAS LOCATED 750 NM WEST OF SAN FRANCISCO. A WEAK LOW PRESSURE TROUGH EXTENDED FROM THE GULF OF CALIFORNIA NORTH THROUGH CALIFORNIA.

MODERATE NORTHWEST WINDS WILL STRENGTHEN OVER THE OUTER WATERS THROUGH TONIGHT. WINDS WILL BE GENERALLY ONSHORE ACROSS THE INNER WATERS DURING THE OVERNIGHT PERIODS AND OFFSHORE DURING THE DAY.
