Effective July 7, 2015, NWS will implement changes to the icons depicted on all of its Point Forecast pages. Highlights will include new icons with increased clarity, 6-hour increments for rapidly changing weather and new color blocks to highlight forecast hazards.

Severe weather possible on Saturday

The NWS Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma expects severe weather to be possible on Saturday. The three main areas of concern are in portions of the Plains, Gulf Coast, and Western U.S. The area of greatest concern is in the Central Plains where a slight risk of severe weather is expected. In this area, damaging winds, large hail and even an isolated tornado can not be ruled out.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms before 4am, then isolated showers between 4am and 5am. Some of the storms could produce small hail and gusty winds. Cloudy during the early evening, then gradual clearing, with a low around 52. West southwest wind 5 to 9 mph becoming south in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
