Severe weather and flooding rains possible on Memorial Day

Strong to severe storms will be possible Memorial Day from south Texas across the Plains into the Midwest. Isolated tornadoes, damaging winds and hail are all possible especially across eastern Texas. In addition, moderate to heavy rainfall is forecast from parts of Texas to the lower Miss. Valley increasing the flash and river flooding concerns, with an additional 1 to 2 inches of rain possible.

Scattered rain and snow showers before 8am, then scattered rain showers. Some thunder is also possible. Patchy fog before noon. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a high near 59. Light and variable wind becoming west 5 to 10 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 50%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
Tonight
Scattered showers and thunderstorms before midnight, then isolated showers after 3am. Some of the storms could produce small hail. Patchy fog after midnight. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 39. West wind 5 to 10 mph becoming south after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
