Effective July 7, 2015, NWS will implement changes to the icons depicted on all of its Point Forecast pages. Highlights will include new icons with increased clarity, 6-hour increments for rapidly changing weather and new color blocks to highlight forecast hazards.

Severe weather possible on Saturday

The NWS Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma expects severe weather to be possible on Saturday. The three main areas of concern are in portions of the Plains, Gulf Coast, and Western U.S. The area of greatest concern is in the Central Plains where a slight risk of severe weather is expected. In this area, damaging winds, large hail and even an isolated tornado can not be ruled out.

Synopsis: HIGH PRESSURE RETREATS TO THE NORTHEAST INTO SATURDAY...AS LOW PRESSURE TRACKS INTO THE MID ATLANTIC STATES TONIGHT...THEN SOUTHEAST OF LONG ISLAND SATURDAY. WEAK HIGH PRESSURE BUILDS IN FROM THE WEST SATURDAY NIGHT...THEN BUILDS ACROSS FROM SUNDAY INTO MONDAY.
