.DISCUSSION...

Warm and windy conditions will develop today across central and
northeast South Dakota and west central Minnesota. Southeast winds
will gust to between 25 to 45 mph by midday and through the late
afternoon hours. The strongest gusts will be felt across central
South Dakota. A storm system organizing to the west and tracking
east across the Dakotas will increase chances for showers and
thunderstorms by late tonight through Thursday. Minimum relative
humidity values this afternoon will bottom out around 35 percent
along and east of the James Valley into west central Minnesota.

...LOW FIRE DANGER...

Favorable weather conditions or a high moisture content of grasses,
and other dry organic material on the ground, indicate that the
probability of a fast moving fire is low.  Outdoor burning under
these conditions can usually be performed with reasonable safety
precautions, but should be monitored.


The outlook for Thursday afternoon...The grassland fire danger index
will reach the low category.
