The National Weather Service in Wakefield has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
  The southeastern City of Norfolk in southeastern Virginia...
  The central City of Chesapeake in southeastern Virginia...
  The southern City of Portsmouth in southeastern Virginia...
  The west central City of Virginia Beach in southeastern Virginia...

* Until 315 PM EDT.

* At 222 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Norfolk State
  University, moving south at 5 mph.

  HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts and half dollar size hail.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Minor damage to vehicles is possible. Expect considerable
           tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to mobile homes,
           roofs, and outbuildings.

* This severe thunderstorm will be near...
  Virginia Beach, Regent University, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, and
  Cradock around 225 PM EDT.

Other locations impacted by this severe thunderstorm include
Greenbrier, South Norfolk, Portlock, Mount Pleasant, Herberts Corner,
Gallups Corner, Hickory, and Chesapeake Airport.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

Large hail, damaging wind, and continuous cloud to ground lightning
are occurring with this storm. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is
one of nature`s leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder,
you are close enough to be struck by lightning.

Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to
flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
