...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM NOON TO 10 PM CDT SATURDAY...
.DISCUSSION...Elevated and critical fire weather conditions are
expected Saturday afternoon through the early evening hours.
Southwesterly winds will look to strengthen thanks to an upper-level
jet bleeding down during the afternoon hours. Look for sustained
winds to reach 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph possible in the
western half of the combined Panhandles. As for RH values, look for
values to begin the morning around 50-60% before plummeting to 5-10%
in the afternoon. This will lead to RFTI values between 5 to 7, with
localized values of 8 possible if winds turn out to be slightly
stronger than currently anticipated. Fuels are considered very dry
for much of the western combined Panhandles. As such, a Red Flag
Warning has been issued for Saturday from 12 PM to 10 PM for much of
the western half of the combined Panhandles.
