.DISCUSSION...Much above normal temperatures and dry conditions
will persist today. Surface winds are expected to be out of the
west or northwest to start the day, and then turn more northerly in
the afternoon, and possibly even upslope from the east or
northeast by mid afternoon. There`s a fair amount of uncertainty,
but whatever the case the winds should be under 10 mph this
afternoon. While transport winds will start out of the west, there
is more agreement in northwesterly transport winds late this
morning through the afternoon. Humidity readings will drop under
prescription thresholds of 15% for a few hours this afternoon,
given the very warm temperatures and dry airmass in place.

Only moderate humidity recovery will occur tonight, but winds
will be light.

Thursday should see more favorable conditions for burning under
the prescription thresholds. While initially light southwest
transport winds can be expected in the morning, daytime heating
and upslope easterly flow will develop by mid to late morning and
continue through Thursday afternoon. Weakening flow aloft should
also allow transport winds to become southeasterly during the
afternoon hours. At the same time, it will still be a dry and warm
day, but minimum humidity levels should stay just above the 15%
threshold.
