837 FNUS52 KCAE 211749 FWFCAE Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Central South Carolina and East Central Georgia National Weather Service Columbia SC 149 PM EDT Tue May 21 2024 .DISCUSSION...Surface high pressure will remain over the area tonight, then it is expected to move off into the Atlantic on Wednesday. Winds generally light and variable overnight, then turning more out of the south on Wednesday through Thursday on the backside of the surface high. Moisture will begin to increase through the end of the week, but mostly dry weather will still prevail into Thursday before a weak cold front begins moving towards the area from the north. Isolated showers possible on Thursday over the northern Midlands, then more scattered convection becomes possible into the weekend. Fog potential for tonight: Patchy fog is possible in fog prone locations.
