Today:

It was dry overnight across Iowa, with varied cloud cover due to
lingering clouds east, high cloudiness increasing west, and an area of
mainly clear skies in between. Early morning temperature were fairly
typical for this time of year with readings in the upper 40s and 50s.
Winds were still brisk from the west at 10 to 20 mph east, but dropped
off to mainly westerly at 5 to 15 mph.

Clouds cover will be variable today with possibly a few sprinkles or
light showers at times. A brief thundershower is possible as well.
Temperatures should reach the 60s by late morning, heading toward
highs in the upper 60s to middle 70s.

Tonight and beyond:

Dry conditions and seasonal temperatures can be expected across the
region Thursday, with highs in the middle 70s to lower 80s. A system
will bring increasing chances for showers and thunderstorms Thursday
night and Friday however. Overall the severe weather potential is
fairly low, but a few strong to severe storms are still possible.

Fair weather should then return to start the weekend Saturday with
highs in the upper 60s and 70s. Varied chances for showers and
thunderstorms will be back in the forecast for Sunday and early next
week however. The potential for severe weather is low at this time.
