Scattered strong to severe thunderstorms are likely to develop along and ahead of an advancing surface dryline and cold front after 4 pm, then persist this evening as storms move southeast across the region. In addition, outflow boundaries left over from early morning storms across the Ark-La-Tex may also serve as foci for storm development. Strength of any remaining cap aloft will dictate both storm coverage and intensity. The primary severe weather hazards will be very large hail and damaging winds to 60 mph, though a few tornadoes are possible with storms that remain discrete and/or interact with localized surface boundaries. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday. There are additional chances for strong to severe storms later on Saturday, primarily west of I-35 and along the immediate Red River Valley. A stronger cap aloft should keep storms mostly isolated, but any storm that develops could quickly become severe with very large hail, damaging winds, and perhaps a tornado. Additional storm chances return mid to late next week. The potential for severe weather remains uncertain at this time. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT... Spotter activation may be needed for much of the area between 5 pm and midnight. $$
