074 WGUS82 KGSP 232214 FLSGSP Flood Advisory National Weather Service Greenville-Spartanburg SC 614 PM EDT Thu May 23 2024 NCC027-240115- /O.NEW.KGSP.FA.Y.0081.240523T2214Z-240524T0115Z/ /00000.N.ER.000000T0000Z.000000T0000Z.000000T0000Z.OO/ Caldwell NC- 614 PM EDT Thu May 23 2024 ...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 915 PM EDT THIS EVENING... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Southeast Caldwell County in North Carolina * WHEN...Until 915 PM EDT. * IMPACTS...Nuisance flooding of low-lying areas adjacent to streams and other poor-drainage areas, including farmland, parks, greenways, boat-access areas, golf courses, underpasses, and parking lots. Isolated, shallow flows over roadways is possible. A few flood-prone, low-water crossings may become impassible. A small culvert washout or two is possible. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 609 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain due to training thunderstorms. Between 1.5 and 3 inches of rain have fallen in the past 60-75 minutes over Rhodhiss and Granite Falls. Resultant excess runoff may result in nuisance to Minor flooding across the Advisory area. The areas of greatest concern include along Gunpowder Creek near and within Granite Falls, where urbanized flooding of poor-drainage areas is imminent. Also of concern is Hayes Mill Creek near Dry Ponds Rd and Helton Rd and Billy Branch near Dudley Shoals Rd. - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are expected over the area. This additional rain may exacerbate ongoing flooding or cause new areas of flooding to develop. - Nuisance to Minor flooding may occur near or within the following locations....
