...A THUNDERSTORM WITH TORRENTIAL RAINFALL WILL IMPACT SOUTHEASTERN
MCDOWELL...NORTHEASTERN RUTHERFORD AND SOUTHWESTERN BURKE COUNTIES
UNTIL 530 PM EDT...

At 449 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a thunderstorm with
torrential rainfall near Marion. This storm was nearly stationary.

Locations to be impacted include...
Marion, Lake James State Park, Lake James, South Mountains State
Park, Nebo, Sugar Hill, Glenwood, Fero, Dysartsville, and Thermal
City.

Very heavy rainfall rates up to 2 inches per hour will be possible in
these areas. Dime size hail is also likely.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Torrential rainfall may flood areas with poor drainage, such as
ditches and underpasses. Avoid these areas and do not cross flooded
roads. Water levels of small streams may also rise rapidly. Seek
higher ground if threatened by flood waters.
