040 WGHW80 PHFO 172231 FLSHFO Flood Advisory National Weather Service Honolulu HI 1231 PM HST Fri May 17 2024 HIC003-180000- /O.CON.PHFO.FA.Y.0076.000000T0000Z-240518T0000Z/ /00000.N.ER.000000T0000Z.000000T0000Z.000000T0000Z.OO/ Honolulu HI- 1231 PM HST Fri May 17 2024 ...FLOOD ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 2 PM HST THIS AFTERNOON FOR THE ISLAND OF OAHU IN HONOLULU COUNTY... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. * WHERE...The island of Oahu in Honolulu County. * WHEN...Until 200 PM HST. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding on roads, poor drainage areas, and in streams. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1222 PM HST, radar and rain gages indicated that rain rates have diminished across much of Oahu. However, stream gages remain elevated over portions of the windward coast, Central Oahu, and the Waianae Mountains. Additional showers remain possible this afternoon, but conditions across the area are expected to continue to improve. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Waipio, Mililani, Wahiawa, Wheeler Field, Schofield Barracks, Waikele, Kunia, Pearl City, Waipahu, Aiea, Waikane, Waiahole, Halawa, Punaluu, Kahaluu, Waialua, Hauula, Kaaawa, Haleiwa and Makakilo. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas prone to flooding. Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due to ponding, reduced visibility and poor braking action. A Flood Watch is also in effect through Friday evening. && This advisory may need to be extended beyond 200 PM HST if flooding persists.
