A cluster of showers and thunderstorms impacted portions of
western and northern Kansas overnight. The strongest activity
produced small hail and strong wind gusts. Predawn temperatures
were in the 50s and 60s, coolest over northwest Kansas.

Scattered thunderstorms are expected this afternoon and evening
across the region, as a storm system approaches from the west.
Some of the storms will be severe, capable of large hail, damaging
winds, and perhaps a few tornadoes. Forecast high temperatures
today are well above average in the 80s and 90s. Strong and gusty
south winds will prevail, as deep low pressure approaches from
the west. Wind gusts will exceed 40 mph at times this afternoon.

Thunderstorm chances will continue shifting east this evening and
overnight. Severe weather is likely before midnight. Forecast low
temperatures are in the 50s and 60s, coolest over western Kansas.
