At 238 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from 8 miles southeast of Peebles to 6 miles east of Vanceburg to near Olive Hill, moving east at 35 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Expect damage to trees and power lines. Locations impacted include... Portsmouth, New Boston, Vanceburg, Head of Grassy, Rosemount, Camp Dix, Rome, Blue Creek, Rarden, Otway, Saint Paul, Kinniconick, Friendship, Mcdermott, Stricklett, Rexton, Cedar Mills, Lombardsville, Sandy Springs, and Buena Vista in Scioto County. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. If on or near a lake, get away from the water and move indoors or inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out to 15 miles from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter now! Do not be caught on the water in a thunderstorm.
