.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 1009 PM EDT Thu May 30 2024
Weather conditions along the Florida Keys are much quieter than
earlier this evening. Outflow boundaries coming off of the
peninsula collided with the residual cloud line, causing an uptick
in thunderstorm and shower activity. Multiple reports of
waterspouts just offshore to the north of Marathon and Cudjoe came
pouring in beginning around 6 PM Local time. Even after the
waterspouts dissipated, lightning activity continued and thunder
was picked up at the Key West International Airport ASOS. Now,
KBYX radar shows a lone cell southwest of the Marquesas Keys, but
this will continue to push off to the west and move out of our
forecast area. Temperatures are currently in the mid to upper 80s,
and dewpoints are in the mid to upper 70s, making for a muggy
night for us.

No updates or changes are needed to the current forecast package
at this time.

.MARINE...
Issued at 1009 PM EDT Thu May 30 2024
There are currently no watches, warning, or advisories in effect
across the Florida Keys. From synopsis, Gentle to moderate breezes
resume a northeast to east direction during the overnight hours.
High pressure currently over the Ohio Valley will continue to dive
southeastward, emerging off the Mid- Atlantic coast over the
weekend. This will result in freshened northeast to east breezes
beginning as early as Friday night, lasting through early next
week.

.AVIATION...
(00Z TAFS)
Issued at 1009 PM EDT Thu May 30 2024
VFR conditions will prevail at both island terminals through the
TAF period. Near-surface winds near 10 knots will remain out of
the east, but gusts near 20 knots are expected to start around
18Z. Some shower and thunderstorm activity may be in the vicinity
of both terminals sometime during the later afternoon hours, but
this has been kept out of the current TAF package due to low
confidence behind location and timing.

&&

.CLIMATE...
On this day in Keys Weather History, a waterspout moved onshore as
an F0 tornado along the north end of Duval Street in 1999. No damage
was reported from this tornado.
