Fire Weather Planning Forecast For Southwestern California
National Weather Service Los Angeles/Oxnard CA
1204 PM PDT Thu May 23 2024

.DISCUSSION...
The marine layer will remain dominant on the coastal side of the
mountains through Saturday, with relatively cool and moist conditions.
Over the mountains and interior, humidities will be improved but still
falling into the 20 to 40 percent range each day. Onshore wind gusts of
30 to 45 mph will be common over the mountains and interior, as well as
the Central Coast and southwest Santa Barbara County. A low pressure
system will pass to the east, which will bring a low but non-zero chance
of a shower or thunderstorm over the mountains.

Winds will weaken and the marine layer will lower Sunday and Monday
(Memorial Day). Warmer and drier conditions expected, especially over
the mountains and interior where highs between 80 and 90 and humidities
of 15 to 30 percent will be common. Further warming over the interior
will continue Tuesday through most of next week, which onshore flow
increases. This will keep the marine layer dominant over the coastal
areas with gusty winds over the interior.
