Low pressure will continue to push off the NJ coast later this morning and into the afternoon resulting in downsloping north to northwest flow. Meanwhile, weak high pressure will build in at the surface allowing for clearing skies and drier conditions. The gradient between the departing low pressure system and incumbent high will result in breezy conditions across the incident location later this morning and into the afternoon. Winds will shift from the northwest early this morning to the north mid-morning and into the afternoon hours. Sustained speeds of 5 to 15 knots can be expected with gusts up to 25 kts during mid to late afternoon. Small Craft Advisories are in effect from 0800 this morning until 2200 tonight. Winds will drop off overnight into Friday as weak high pressure sits south of the incident location. Conditions will remain dry with increasing clouds Friday morning. Shower chances and perhaps a thunderstorm return Friday evening and into the overnight hours as a warm front approaches the region. VFR ceilings are expected this morning with few to scattered clouds around 3000 feet. Scattered to broken ceilings between 5 to 10 kft are expected this afternoon and early evening before lowering once again tonight. Tide levels will decrease today with northerly flow. Water levels will rise again Friday into Saturday under southeasterly flow. No tidal flooding is expected through Friday. The current water temperature is around 65 degrees.
