...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 545 AM EDT
FOR WESTERN CHEROKEE AND SOUTHEASTERN POLK COUNTIES...
At 518 AM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from 13 miles northwest of Murphy to 7 miles north of
Morganton to near Blue Ridge, moving east at 40 mph.
HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.
Locations impacted include...
Murphy, Ducktown, Violet, Hot House, Turtletown, Copperhill, Hiawasse
Dam, Culberson, and Unaka.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 600 AM EDT for southwestern
North Carolina...and east Tennessee.
Prepare immediately for large hail and damaging winds. People outside
should move to a shelter, inside a strong building and away from
windows.
Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms, and may lead to
flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
