...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 545 AM EDT
FOR WESTERN CHEROKEE AND POLK COUNTIES...
At 510 AM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from 7 miles southeast of Etowah to 7 miles west of
Ducktown to 9 miles northeast of Eton, moving east at 40 mph.
HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.
Locations impacted include...
Murphy, Ducktown, William L. Davenport Refuge, Violet, Big Frog
Mountain, Hot House, Turtletown, Copperhill, Hiawasse Dam, and
Archville.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 600 AM EDT for southwestern
North Carolina...and east Tennessee.
Prepare immediately for large hail and damaging winds. People outside
should move to a shelter, inside a strong building and away from
windows.
Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms, and may lead to
flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
