.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 306 PM CDT Wed May 29 2024

High pressure settled across the region is bringing tranquil
weather conditions today. Visible satellite imagery shows mostly
clear to partly cloudy skies while afternoon observations
have temperatures in the 70`s. High pressure builds further
across the Ohio Valley keeping dry weather conditions in place
through the rest of this week. Aloft, we see amplification
Friday into Saturday associated with an upper level wave lifting
across the central plains. Rain chances will increase Friday
night with continued rain chances through the weekend. The
highest rain chances appear to be on Saturday.

Forecast confidence is lower for next week. Ensemble guidance
suggests quasi-zonal flow setting up which will introduce the
chance of a few upper level waves traversing the area. This type
of regime will bring unsettled weather to the area with
rain/storm chances through much of next week. As far as
temperatures, slightly below normal temperatures are expected to
continue into Thursday associated with northwest flow aloft.
However, temperatures begin to rebound by the weekend and
especially into early next week associated with increasing
southerly flow.
