...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 445 PM EDT
FOR NASH...NORTHWESTERN EDGECOMBE...WEST CENTRAL HALIFAX...
NORTHWESTERN WILSON AND SOUTHEASTERN FRANKLIN COUNTIES...

At 412 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Nashville,
moving northeast at 40 mph.

HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

SOURCE...Trained weather spotters reported trees down in Wendell
         area.

IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect considerable
         tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to mobile homes,
         roofs, and outbuildings.

Locations impacted include...
Rocky Mount, Nashville, Dortches, Bailey, Red Oak, Sharpsburg, Spring
Hope, Castalia, Leggett, and Glenview.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 1100 PM EDT for central North
Carolina.

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

Straight line winds can blow down trees, power lines, and damage
mobile homes and other buildings. Seek shelter in a sturdy structure
until the storm has passed. Stay away from windows as flying debris
generated by damaging winds can be deadly.
