...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT EDT
FOR CENTRAL WAYNE...NORTHERN SAMPSON...EASTERN HARNETT...CENTRAL WAKE
AND JOHNSTON COUNTIES...

At 1138 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from 7 miles east of Raleigh to Smithfield to near Dunn,
moving east at 65 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts.

SOURCE...Law enforcement.

IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

Locations impacted include...
Raleigh, Cary, Goldsboro, Smithfield, Lillington, Garner,
Fuquay-Varina, Clayton, Dunn, and Mount Olive.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Straight line winds can blow down trees, power lines, and damage
mobile homes and other buildings. Seek shelter in a sturdy structure
until the storm has passed. Stay away from windows as flying debris
generated by damaging winds can be deadly.
