181 AGUS76 KRSA 211522 HMDRSA Hydrometeorological Discussion National Weather Service / California Nevada RFC / Sacramento CA 830 AM PDT Tue May 21 2024 ...SCATTERED SHOWERS OVER THE CNTRL/SRN SIERRA TODAY WITH ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS OVER E NV... ...NEAR TO BELOW NORMAL TEMPS THIS WEEK WITH DRY CONDITIONS ASIDE FROM OCCASIONAL LIGHT SHOWERS ALONG THE NRN CA/NV BORDERS AS DISTURBANCES PASS THROUGH THE PACNW... .METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS (TUE AM - MON AM)... An upper level trough over the western U.S. today into Saturday with several shortwaves/lows moving through the Pac NW. One low moves into the Pac NW tonight into Wednesday and into ID and Nrn NV Wednesday afternoon into Thursday morning. This will bring showers and possible isolated thunderstorms near the ORCA border and far Nrn NV tonight into Wednesday night. Max temperatures generally near normal to 10 degrees below normal over CA and below normal to around 15 degrees over NV this afternoon cooling to 5 to 15 degrees below normal along far NW CA coast and Srn OR and far Nrn NV on Wednesday and near normal to 10 degrees below elsewhere. Weak disturbances move through Nrn and Central CA Thursday for possible isolated showers and thunderstorms over central/Srn Sierra. Temperatures generally cool to near normal to 10 degrees below normal Thursday. A weaker shortwave trough moves through Central/Srn Ca and Srn NV on Friday for a chance of isolated to scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms over the Central/Srn Sierra and over NV. Max temperatures cool to 10 to 20 degrees below normal over the Central and Srn CA coast Friday afternoon. Another low moves through the Pac NW Saturday bringing a chance of showers and isolated thunderstorms near the ORCA border and Nrn NV. Max temps generally cool to below normal up to around 20 degrees on Saturday. Weak ridging over the region Sunday into Monday with warmer temperatures and mainly dry conditions. Max temperatures warm up to near normal to 10 degrees above normal for most of NV and Srn OR and interior CA with below normal temps up to around 10 degrees below normal over the CA coast. Freezing levels generally 9000-13,000 ft except in the north lowering to around 5000-9000 ft Wednesday into Thursday and again Saturday as systems move through.
