801 SXUS46 KSEW 261059 RECSEW Mount Rainier Recreational Forecast National Weather Service Seattle WA 359 AM PDT Sun May 26 2024 .SYNOPSIS...Cooler and showery conditions will be possible across Mount Rainier National Park today as a frontal system brushes the region. Upper level ridging will then gradually begin to build east of the area Monday, allowing for drier conditions and warmer temperatures. The next frontal system is slated to move across the region on Tuesday for another round of showers, cooler conditions, and gusty winds at higher reaches of the mountain. Drier and warmer conditions will be possible late in the week as upper ridging builds offshore. && .IMPACTS...Strong winds near the summit will make it difficult to move safely and could produce local whiteout conditions Sunday and again Monday night into Tuesday. A high level of skill and experience in alpine terrain, including use of GPS, is recommended for navigation and camping in these conditions. && .SUNDAY...Mostly cloudy. A slight chance of showers in the morning, then a chance of showers in the afternoon.
