563 SXUS46 KSEW 280934 RECSEW Mount Rainier Recreational Forecast National Weather Service Seattle WA 234 AM PDT Tue May 28 2024 .SYNOPSIS...A cold front will cross western Washington today with a quick round of rain and snow, which will taper off to showers tonight into Wednesday with a lightning strike possible Wednesday afternoon. Gusty winds near the summit will persist through Wednesday. Drier conditions arrive at Mount Rainier National Park Thursday into Friday as high pressure builds across the region. A series of frontal systems will bring a return to wet and unsettled weather this weekend into early next week. && .IMPACTS...Strong winds near the summit will make it difficult to move safely and could produce local whiteout conditions. A high level of skill and experience in alpine terrain, including use of GPS, is recommended for navigation and camping in these conditions. && .TUESDAY...A chance of rain and snow in the morning, then rain and snow in the afternoon. No snow accumulation near Paradise. Snow level near 7000 feet. .TUESDAY NIGHT...Mostly cloudy with rain and snow likely in the evening, then mostly cloudy with a slight chance of showers after midnight. Little or no snow accumulation near Paradise. Snow level near 5500 feet decreasing to 4000 feet after midnight. .WEDNESDAY...Showers in the morning, then showers, snow showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon.
