NORTHEASTERN NOLAN...SOUTHEASTERN FISHER AND NORTHERN TAYLOR COUNTIES THROUGH 1130 PM CDT... At 1038 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Lake Sweetwater, or 7 miles north of Nolan, moving northeast at 35 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and nickel size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Abilene, Sweetwater, Merkel, Tye, Trent, Noodle, Dyess Afb, Impact, Camp Butman, Stith, Lake Sweetwater, and Camp Boothe Oaks. This includes Interstate 20 between Mile Markers 242 and 289. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle. This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio stations and available television stations for additional information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
