Showers and thunderstorms this afternoon, some strong to severe, will move eastward, tapering off before midnight. A similar setup is expected tomorrow, with strong to severe storms favoring eastern New Mexico in the afternoon and evening. Large hail, strong and erratic winds, and frequent cloud-to-ground lightning will be the primary hazards. Drier conditions take hold Sunday, with widespread single digit relative humidity persisting for greater than 6 hrs for several zones. Breezy west to southwest winds in the afternoon will create elevated to near-critical fire weather conditions most areas, with critical fire weather conditions possible in the northeast and central highlands and their adjacent plains. Winds will relax during the work week amongst very low humidity. Showers and thunderstorms may reenter the forecast Thursday.
