500 WGAK69 PAFG 251639 FFAAFG URGENT - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED Flood Watch National Weather Service Fairbanks AK 839 AM AKDT Sat May 25 2024 AKZ825-270000- /O.EXT.PAFG.FA.A.0005.000000T0000Z-240527T0000Z/ /00000.0.IJ.000000T0000Z.000000T0000Z.000000T0000Z.OO/ Yukon Delta Coast- Including the cities of Scammon Bay, Chevak, Nunam Iqua, Alakanuk, Mountain Village, Hooper Bay, Kotlik, and Emmonak 839 AM AKDT Sat May 25 2024 ...FLOOD WATCH FOR AN ICE JAM NOW IN EFFECT THROUGH SUNDAY AFTERNOON... * WHAT...Flooding caused by an ice jam continues to be possible. * WHERE...Yukon River in the Yukon Delta. * WHEN...Through Sunday afternoon. * IMPACTS...Ice jams may result in flooding along the Yukon River over the Yukon Delta. Low lying areas near Nunam Iqua and Kotlik have potential to flood through Sunday. If an ice jam shifts water could rise rapidly. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - The Yukon River breakup is pushing across the Yukon Delta. Ice has jammed up near Kotlik with high water on the river but no flooding reports in Kotlik. There is still a risk of flooding at Nunam Iqua and Kotlik should the ice shift and push water towards the towns. - Http://www.weather.gov/aprfc - Please stay tuned to NOAA weather radio or your favorite local weather news source for updates on this situation. - If you live near or along the Yukon River on the Yukon Delta move valuables to higher ground, stay alert and be prepared to take action.
