Temperatures ahead of the line of storms remains in the 60s to around 70 while behind the line temperatures have fallen back to the upper 50s to lower 60s. The strongest storms are expected to cross through eastern Iowa by 11 am with a few lingering showers and storms east of Interstate 35 through mid afternoon. Winds are from the southeast at 15 to 25 mph ahead of the line of storms, while behind the line winds are from the northwest. This afternoon will see breezy northwest winds behind the morning storms and clouds will be on the decrease. The few lingering showers and storms over eastern Iowa should exit the state by 4 to 5 pm. Highs today will reach the mid to upper 60s northwest to the mid to upper 70s in the far southeast. Tonight and beyond: By tonight conditions will quiet down with light northwest winds becoming variable by morning. Lows will drop to the mid 40s northwest to the upper 40s to lower 50s in the east. Saturday will begin sunny, but clouds will be on the increase during the afternoon hours ahead of the next storm system. Saturday will be pleasant with afternoon highs in the lower to mid 70s north to the mid 70s south. Later Saturday evening another area of low pressure will spread rain and some thunderstorms into southern Iowa. Lows Saturday night will dip to the lower 50s north and around 60 in the south. A few stronger storms are possible along with another round of moderate rainfall into Sunday. The precipitation will linger Sunday night into Monday before drier weather returns Monday night and Tuesday. Seasonal temperatures in the 60s and 70s are expected through midweek next week. Dry weather will return to the region by later Tuesday into Wednesday. $$ REV
