.DISCUSSION...

KEY MESSAGES:

- There will be repeated chances for showers and thunderstorms
  over the next several days.

- Gusty WNW winds up to 40 mph are possible Friday.

- Cooler temperatures are expected over the weekend.

WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW:

Low pressure over western Canada will drift into the Canadian
prairies over the next few days. The low will then linger through
the first half of next week with various shortwaves pushing across
Montana.

The first of these shortwaves will push a cold front through the
state late on Friday with thunderstorms, gusty winds and a drop in
temperatures expected. The next wave will be on Sunday with
similar conditions although winds will not be as strong.
CONFIDENCE AND POTENTIAL DEVIATIONS FROM BASE FORECAST:
High confidence exists on the general temperature trend through
Saturday. Also, there is a high confidence of gusty west winds
Friday and Saturday although winds are not expected to be as
strong. The southwestern portion of the forecast area has a 60-90+
percent probability of a 30 mph wind gust on Friday at this time
while the remainder of the area has weaker winds. Winds will be
stronger across the east on Saturday. This should lead to a Lake
Wind Advisory being needed for Friday afternoon.

There is low confidence on the timing of showers and
thunderstorms, as well as the total amount of rain for any
particular location.

Did not deviate from the base forecast at this time.
