The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued a

* Special Marine Warning for...
  Coastal waters from Surf City to Cape Fear NC out 20 nm...

* Until 415 PM EDT.

* At 242 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over South
  Masonboro Island, moving northeast at 5 knots.

  HAZARD...Wind gusts to nearly 50 knots and large hail.

  SOURCE...Radar.

  IMPACT...Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and
           suddenly higher waves. Large hail could result in
           structural damage.

* Locations impacted include...
  10 Mile Boxcars, Liberty Ship, Buoy Off Carolina Beach, Masonboro
  Sea Buoy, Harris Reef, 5 Mile Boxcars, 10 Mile Rocks, and Kure
  Beach Point.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until these storms pass.
If caught on the open water, prepare for deteriorating conditions.
Make sure you and your crew are wearing properly fitted life jackets.
