666 FLUS43 KILX 201041 HWOILX Hazardous Weather Outlook National Weather Service Lincoln IL 541 AM CDT Mon May 20 2024 ILZ027>031-036-037-040-041-047>050-211100- Knox-Stark-Peoria-Marshall-Woodford-Fulton-Tazewell-Schuyler-Mason- Cass-Menard-Scott-Morgan- 541 AM CDT Mon May 20 2024 This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for central Illinois and west central Illinois, generally near and west of the Illinois River. .DAY ONE...Today and tonight. Scattered thunderstorms are expected across the area this afternoon and evening. A few of these may be strong or briefly severe, with damaging winds and perhaps some hail. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Sunday. Another round of thunderstorms is likely late Tuesday afternoon through the evening. Severe weather is likely with these storms. While damaging winds will be the primary threat, hail and a few tornadoes are also possible. Ahead of the storms, south winds will gust from 35 to 40 mph Tuesday afternoon and evening, causing some difficult travel on west east oriented roads. Additional storms are expected Friday and Saturday, though the severe weather threat is more uncertain during that period. Minor flooding will linger on the Illinois River from Havana to Beardstown through the week. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT... Spotter activation may be needed today, and again Tuesday evening. Scattered thunderstorms are expected across the area this afternoon and evening. A few of these may be strong or briefly severe, with damaging winds and perhaps some hail. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Sunday. Another round of thunderstorms is likely late Tuesday night and Wednesday. Some of the storms Tuesday night will be severe, especially west of I-57. While damaging winds will be the primary threat, though hail and a tornado or two are also possible, especially near the I-55 corridor. On Wednesday, the better severe weather chances will be closer to I-70. Ahead of the storms, south winds will gust from 35 to 40 mph Tuesday afternoon and evening, causing some difficult travel on west east oriented roads. Periods of thunderstorms are expected from Tuesday night through Saturday. While a few stronger storms are possible Tuesday night, the better chance of severe weather will be on Wednesday.
