.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 246 AM EDT Thu Jun 6 2024

Notably cooler and less humid early this morning in the wake
yesterday`s late-day cold front. Showers are ongoing across
central Michigan, on the nose of a screaming 90 knot jet at
500mb, attempting to extend southwest through central Illinois.
However, water vapor depicts very little moisture transport thus
the radar returns over Illinois are poor. Therefore, I have
notably reduced the extend of POPs early this morning.

Breezy but dry this afternoon with highs on either side of 75. An
increasing pressure gradient as high pressure becomes established
over the Central Plains, paired with well-mixed forecast soundings,
will permit westerly wind gusts of 30 mph. As a result, high waves
and rip currents are anticipated at eastern Lake Michigan beaches.
Breezy on Friday as well with slightly cooler temperatures,
thanks to continued cold air advection aloft.

An upper-level low lingers over the eastern Great Lakes through the
weekend. The next chance of rain showers is late Saturday afternoon
and again on Sunday as strong impulses ripple through cyclonic flow
aloft. This low is perhaps kicked eastward by Tuesday as a dominant
Southwest-US ridge (various heat headlines currently in effect
there) drifts into the Midwest allowing our temperatures to warm
closer to normal (near 80).
