.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 1033 AM EDT Fri May 17 2024
The heat is on. Surface observation trends indicate current
temperatures and dewpoints are a degree or two higher than
yesterday at this time. Peak heat indices reached 108 to 110
yesterday in a couple of spots, which scraped into the Heat
Advisory category. So, Heat Advisory is in effect for all the
Florida Keys as high temperatures climb into the lower to mid 90s
(dewpoints near 80). Unfortunately, skies are sunny. The WBGT
products (temp, humidity, wind, sky cover) suggest an Extreme Risk
for dangerous heat through the afternoon so hydrate, take
frequent breaks, seek the shade regularly, and consider AC breaks.
The forecast is on track and calls for nil rain chances through
the afternoon.

Relief is in sight. We highlight good rain chances Sunday night
through Tuesday followed by a slightly drier air mass and lower
dewpoints.

.MARINE...
Issued at 1033 AM EDT Fri May 17 2024
A weak frontal boundary to the north of the Florida Keys
interacting with an area of high pressure in the western North
Atlantic will result in a chaotic wind forecast through the
weekend. Breezes will tend to peak in the evening and overnight
hours, and then lull in the afternoon hours.
