The marine layer will be prevalent over all coastal and valley areas today, more so than over the weekend. Northwest winds will increase tonight, which will decrease the marine layer coverage and extent over Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Counties Wednesday and Thursday, but will also induce a coastal eddy which will keep the marine layer up for Ventura and Los Angeles Counties. Those northwest winds will gust between 25 and 40 mph through Wednesday Night over most mountain areas, Antelope Valley, and Santa Barbara County. Isolated gusts to 50 mph are possible around Gaviota and the I-5 Corridor. Brief northeast gusts to 20 to 30 mph are expected over the mountains Thursday morning. Humidities will remain elevated and above 40 percent on the coastal side of the ranges, including southern Santa Barbara County, except for humidities of 12 to 25 percent over the interior valleys and mountains. The winds turn back onshore Thursday afternoon through Saturday, with an expanding marine layer.
