Fire Weather Planning Forecast for West Texas/Southeast New Mexico
National Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX
241 AM CDT Mon May 20 2024

.DISCUSSION...

Elevated to near-critical fire weather conditions across far West
Texas, Southeast New Mexico, and the higher terrain will continue
for much of this week with single digit humidity each afternoon,
poor overnight recoveries, ERCs in the 90th+ percentile, and
critically dry fuels. 20ft winds will remain fairly light for most
of this week except on Tuesday, limiting fire weather concerns
somewhat. A cold front on Wednesday will bring slightly cooler
temperatures and a few thunderstorms for Thursday before a warming
and drying trend sets in again Friday and beyond.
