875 FNUS52 KMLB 271835 FWFMLB Fire Weather Planning Forecast for East Central Florida National Weather Service Melbourne FL 235 PM EDT Mon May 27 2024 .Discussion... Efficient mixing this afternoon has led to lower dew point and RH values across a number of east-central Florida locations. Fire sensitive to near-critical conditions will persist through the afternoon and several plumes have been noted on the KMLB radar. Dispersion continues to be excellent, potentially leading to control issues. In addition, temperatures have reached the mid 90s with heat indices in the upper 90s to around 100 degrees. On Tuesday, a weak front will approach north-central Florida as moisture increases over the peninsula. Rain and scattered storm chances will increase from north to south into the afternoon. Outside of any storms, winds are forecast to remain westerly around 10 mph or less with slightly higher gusts. Daytime temperatures stay in the mid 90s through at least Thursday before a relatively cooler period late week into the weekend. Min RH values Wednesday and Thursday will be near critical values, in the upper 20s to mid 30s across the interior. Combined with northeast to easterly winds around 10-15 mph, at least fire sensitive conditions are expected to continue. Fog potential and other remarks...Widespread fog is not forecast. However, localized visibility reductions due to smoke from new or existing fires will be possible even if fog is not forecast.
