FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR UPPER MICHIGAN
National Weather Service Marquette MI
553 AM EDT Mon May 20 2024

...Scattered rain showers today, then a better chance for
widespread soaking rainfall Tuesday night...

.DISCUSSION: A weak disturbance moving through the area will
result in a period of scattered showers and maybe an isolated
thunderstorm today. Rainfall amounts should range from 0.05 inch
northwest to as much as 0.25 inches south central. Much of the
area will see a break in rainfall tonight though at least Tuesday
morning before an unusually strong low pressure system lifts through
the Plains into the Upper Great Lakes. Plan on another round of
showers later Tuesday into Tuesday night with rainfall totals
expected to be from half an inch to an inch, greatest west and
southeast. As rain tapers off Wednesday with the strong system
lifting north of the area, southwest to west wind gusts will ramp
up and could reach 40 to 45 mph across much of the area.
