The National Weather Service in Paducah has extended the

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Carter County in southeastern Missouri...
  Ripley County in southeastern Missouri...

* Until 1245 AM CDT.

* At 818 PM CDT, emergency management reported flash flooding in in
  Van Buren, including on roads that do not normally flood. Between
  2 and 4 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of
  0.5 to 1.5 inches are possible in the warned area.

  HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Heavy rain producing
           flash flooding.

  SOURCE...Emergency management reported.

  IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
           urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Doniphan, Van Buren, Naylor, Ellsinore, Hunter, Handy, Budapest,
  Gatewood, Oxly, Fremont, Fairdealing, Grandin and Briar.

For locations that also have a tornado warning issued, seek shelter
in an interior room at the lowest level unless absolutely necessary
to avoid flooding.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where
you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become
killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or
creeks.
