...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1245 AM EDT MONDAY
FOR ALLEGHANY NC, ASHE AND NORTHWESTERN SURRY COUNTIES...

At 844 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated that heavy rainfall has
exited the area, leaving only light to occasionally moderate
rainfall. Between 2 and 3.5 inches of rain fell earlier this
evening, much of it within a 60 to 90 minute period. Flash flooding
is expected as runoff from this heavy rain collects in low-lying
areas.

HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing
         flash flooding.

SOURCE...Radar.

IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
         urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

Laurel Springs...                  Glendale Springs...
Ennice...

This includes the following streams and drainages...
  Brush Creek, Chestnut Creek, Big Pine Creek, Beaver Creek, Basin
  Creek, Beaverdam Creek, Big Laurel Creek, Call Creek and Big Horse
  Creek.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

When it is safe to do so, please send your reports of flooding,
including mudslides or flooded roads, to the National Weather
Service by calling toll free at 1...8 6 6...2 1 5...4 3 2 4. Reports
