AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
National Weather Service Wilmington OH
636 AM EDT Thu Jun 6 2024

.SYNOPSIS...
A weak cold front moving through the region today will result in
the potential for a few showers. High pressure and a drier,
cooler airmass will settle into the Ohio Valley tonight into
Friday. Another chance for showers and a few thunderstorms will
return for the weekend.

&&

.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 7 PM THIS EVENING/...
Shower activity has just about ended across our area early this
morning as the initial cold front moves east of our area. In
its wake, weak cyclonic flow will persist across the region
today as a secondary weak cold front/surface trough moves east
across our area. With some weak instability developing through
this afternoon ahead of this, it will be tough to rule out a few
showers so will allow for a 20 pop across about the southeast
two thirds of our area this afternoon. Temperatures will be
fairly seasonable with afternoon highs in the upper 70s to lower
80s.

&&

.SHORT TERM /7 PM THIS EVENING THROUGH 6 PM FRIDAY/...
Any lingering shower activity across our southeast should taper
off heading into this evening as the cold front moves through.
A drier and slightly cooler airmass will settle into the region
tonight into Friday as surface high pressure builds east into
the Tennessee and lower Ohio Valleys. Lows tonight will be in
the mid to upper 50s with highs on Friday in the 70s.

&&

.LONG TERM /FRIDAY NIGHT THROUGH WEDNESDAY/...
West to northwest flow aloft will persist through the weekend
into early next week. An embedded mid level short wave will
slide east south east across the southern Great Lakes Saturday
into Sunday. This will lead to some lower end chances for
showers and perhaps a thunderstorm through the weekend.
Temperatures will remain a few degrees below normal Saturday and
Sunday with afternoon highs in the 70s.

Surface high pressure and a drier airmass will build east
across the Ohio Valley Monday into Tuesday. Monday looks to be
the coolest day of the long term period with highs in the low
to possibly mid 70s. Temperatures will then begin to moderate
back to near normal readings through mid week. This will be
ahead of an approaching mid level short wave that will eventually
lead to a chance for showers and a few thunderstorms by mid
week.

&&

.AVIATION /12Z THURSDAY THROUGH MONDAY/...
Sct-bkn IFR cigs will continue to dissipate through mid morning
as well as patchy MVFR br as some drier air filters in from the
northwest. A secondary cold front will move through the area
today. This will result in some scattered cu development along
with the potential for a few showers. High pressure will build
into the area tonight into Friday with VFR conditions
prevailing through the remainder of the TAF period.

OUTLOOK...MVFR possible in showers and thunderstorms Saturday
night and Sunday.
