NORTHWESTERN PLAQUEMINES PARISHES THROUGH 315 PM CDT
...
At 235 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong
thunderstorms along a line extending from near Poydras to Lafitte to
8 miles west of Barataria to near Paradis. Movement was southeast at
10 mph.
HAZARD...Winds in excess of 40 mph and pea size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is
possible.
Locations impacted include...
New Orleans, Belle Chasse, Chalmette, Port Sulphur, Jean Lafitte, Des
Allemands, Violet, Meraux, Lafitte, Poydras, Myrtle Grove, Pointe A
La Hache, Bayou Gauche, Shell Beach, and Barataria.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
