...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT SOUTHERN JOHNSON AND EASTERN
CARTER COUNTIES THROUGH 615 PM EDT...

At 528 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near
Elk Park, or 10 miles northwest of Newland, moving northeast at 30
mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and penny size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
         possible.

Locations impacted include...
Trade, Roane Mountain State Park, Doeville, Neva, Hampton Creek Cove
State Park, Sadie, Elk Mills, and Roan Mountain.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 900 PM EDT for
east Tennessee.
