The National Weather Service office in Omaha/Valley NE will conduct storm surveys around today in Iowa and Nebraska. In Iowa, surveys are planned for the areas near Red Oak and Villisca in Montgomery County, Macedonia in Pottawatomie County and Henderson in Mills County. In Nebraska, surveys are planned for the area near Bellwood and Brainard in Butler County, Weston and Yutan in Saunders County, Columbus in Platte County, and Schuyler in Colfax County. The surveys are in relation to the severe thunderstorms that moved through the area during the early morning and afternoon hours on May 21 2024. A preliminary assessment, including results of the survey are expected to be completed, and transmitted via a Public Information Statement later this evening.
