...STRONG THUNDERSTORMS OVER THE WATERS...

The areas affected include...

  Long Island Sound...
  Peconic and Gardiners Bays...

At 1057 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated strong thunderstorms, capable
of producing winds to around 30 knots and small hail. These
thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near New Haven
Harbor to 8 nm northeast of Great South Bay to 15 nm northeast of
Buoy 44025, moving east at 35 knots.

  The Thimbles around 1105 AM EDT.
  Central Long Island Sound around 1110 AM EDT.
  Falkner Island and Madison Reef around 1115 AM EDT.
  Mattituck Inlet around 1120 AM EDT.
  Great Peconic Bay and Six Mile Reef around 1125 AM EDT.
  Horton Point, Little Peconic Bay, and Westbrook Center around 1130
  AM EDT.
  Dering Harbor, Shelter Island Sound, Long Sand Shoal, Mouth of the
  Connecticut River, and Shelter Island around 1135 AM EDT.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots, locally higher
waves, and lightning strikes. Boaters should seek safe harbor
immediately until these storms pass.
